chicano rights movement call to action for unity and equality, protest against ICE

A CALL FOR COMMUNITY UNITY

A CALL FOR COMMUNITY UNITY
The Committee on Chicano Rights (CCR) is calling for your support in an ongoing International effort to secure a just and humane solution to immigration, the slave issue of the 20th century. If the 2020’s are truly to be the decade of the Chicano it's because as a united people we will continue the fight for Chicano rights and against injustice. While we must mount the struggle for Chicano power on many fronts, time has proven that one of the most key campaigns we must win is the battle for immigration justice. As long as the slur of "illegal alien" can be put upon any of our people we will all continue to be the victims of social, economic, and political injustice. And when we protest these injustices we are told "if you don't like it go back to Mexico, wetback!" We who live in southern California along the U.S. Mexico border, and all large California barrios, bear the brunt of this immigration spurned abuse. We truly live in the War-zone of Aztlan because of the daily attacks of prejudice and physical aggression we're forced to suffer. We've witnessed how these attacks have resulted in ICE raids of our barrios, women being raped, babies dying, and handcuffed men being shot at the border. All Chicanos must unite as one and stop these violations of human rights and dignity caused by modern day slavery, the issue of cheap labor immigration. Our existence and our ability to meet the challenge of the immigration issue depends on your support. Your help is more and more needed as day by day nations of the world become increasingly aware of the United States' hypocritical treatment of people of Mexicano/Latino heritage. While the United States parades itself as the world's Champion of human rights it daily commits massive human rights violations at its very own doorstep. The spotlight on this hypocrisy has been turned on by the unceasing efforts of the Chicano community to make these immigration abuses known. We must take the immigration issue beyond reactions against abuses and turn it into a concerted international effort to eliminate all immigration injustice. We the grassroots and advocacy organizations are the true voice of the Chicano community. We who do not ride on the coat-tails of the system for our prestige—we who know we are Chicanos will self-determine our future. We will make it known that Chicano interests and concerns must play an essential part in resolving the immigration issue along with the interests of the governments of the United States and Mexico. Our requested calls for investigations into immigration abuses have fallen on deaf ears at the Federal, State, and local levels, while babies die and handcuffed men are shot. We will keep on developing national positions on the immigration issue that will continue to create international concern and eventual action against United States attacks against people of Mexican/Latino descent. None of this will be successful without Chicano Community Unity, we will never have Chicano Power without your involvement! The one power our Chicano community has is people power, we're quickly becoming the majority in California and other states of Aztlan. However, population size means little until it's coupled to political awareness, social concern, community organization and active involvement. In our struggle for civil and constitutional rights these have always proven to be the effective elements of Chicano power. We who live in the War-zone of Aztlan must be on the front line, fighting against the massive violations of human rights and dignity our people have been forced to suffer. Chicano Power starts with the individual, it starts with your participation. remember, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
JUNTENSE EN LA LUCHA!!!!!
